what's with the Goth?

Assalamualaikum.

So I was wondering why people always against something they don't even know what it is? Seeing me walking on the street with black and red and scary bracelet or whatever.. Let's see, the gothic culture...is it possible? Does the Qur'an forbid such lifestyle? Do the Shariah enforce punishment to those followers of it?

Extreme goth women. I would never paint my face like that.

Many years had passed and being a Muslim doesn't stop me from liking the gothic scene. It has always been my passion and life to bind myself with these kind of culture. It is where I find the essence of life. What makes it hard for me is the people who are against it. Though I couldn't blame them because I highly respect their belief and as far as I am concern I am not offending any of my Muslim brothers and sisters. I adhere to the faith of Islam and gothic culture is NOT prohibited. How is this? Well for as long as you don't do anything which contradicts the Islamic belief then there is absolutely nothing wrong.

Actually I planned to have my own black umbrella and walk like that :p 

There are instances that people might associate goths to be an atheist, satan worshipper, witch etc. These acts are not permissible, it is completely haram. Those unbelievers or rejecters of faith are curse. Let see what the Quran says :

"I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn. From the mischief of created things; From the mischief of Darkness as it overspreads; From the mischief of those who practise secret arts; And from the mischief of the envious one as he practises envy." 113:1-5

                                                                                              

" The Hypocrites and those whose hearts is a disease. Say: these people- their religion Has misled them." But if any trust in Allah is Exalted in might, Wise. If thou couldst see, when the angels take the souls of the Unbeliever (at death), (How) they smite their backs, (saying): Take the chastisement of the blazing fire."  8:49-51

For sure, I will never be seen like this.. Bad kids on street trying to make you feel scare of them looking at you creepy-ly. That's not me. I am cheerful and talkactive so don't worry mom. I have my future !

Actually, big part of this gothic thing that I took is only on how I dress. Yes. There are said in Islam that you can't copy what the kafirs looks like, what they do, and how they live their life. But me, I am a fulltime Muslim. So me as a Muslim girl, dress like a goth or a Muslim, you can't even see the differences..like seriously. Because we wear hijab to cover our aurah, and usually Muslim women all around the world wear niqab and fully black. We can't wear short skirts, tights and stuff. Then, if I wear black hijab, black dress, black shoes.. People still see me as a Muslim. But a little scary I guess :3

Goth doesn't make me less of a Muslim for as long as it doesn't change my belief towards Islam. I may not good as a Muslim, but establishing my faith, believing that there is only one God, and doing good virtues in accordance with the teachings of Islam is what makes me a person, a Muslim.
